Hannah's Intern Diary- Handing over

Over the last few weeks I have been busy getting everything ready to hand over to Amelia, the new Retail Office Intern, who will be taking over from myself in just two weeks’ time. I have been making a handbook with everything she needs to know, as, although I will be spending time with Amelia next week to ‘show her the ropes’, it is always nice to have something to refer back to once left to go it alone!

Putting the handbook together has been quite an eye opener for me, it has made me realise how much I have learnt this year and how varied my role has been, covering everything from financial processes to social media! It has felt almost like putting together a final project at school or Uni, consolidating all my learning for final approval.

In addition to this, today I have been completing the ‘Reflective Review’ to conclude the ILM course I have been attending. The review challenged me to identify skills which I have developed through taking the course, of which there are many, whilst also identifying areas which still requires attention. Although actually identifying the areas for improvement was in itself not too tough, what was more challenging was setting SMART targets in order to reach these goals, identifying exactly how the objective will be achieved and by when. Although challenging I have found this a really useful exercise as it has made me thank about my own strengths and weaknesses and hopefully make changes for the better.

I am looking forward to passing on all I have learnt to Amelia and hope that she can benefit as I have from the range of skills and knowledge the Retail Office Internship offers the chance to develop.

Until next time,

Hannah x
