Georgina's First Week

The newbie in Retail..............

Hi I’m Georgina, but most people call me George, so either one is fine by me! (I was quite the tomboy as a child hence the nickname and it’s just stuck!) I am the new University Retail Assistant, accompanying Debra and Ann in the Retail team.

I graduated from this brilliant university in June last year (2018), with a 2:1 BA Honours in Theology and Religion. I absolutely adored my three years here; the only problem was it flew over so quickly! I did not only leave university with a great degree and deepened interest and knowledge of my chosen field, but with more self-confidence and independency which I am sure will help me in this role.

My past work experience includes, receptionist and office junior for a solicitor’s office, till operator for a building society and a shop assistant in a newsagents. Since leaving university I have continued being a Maths and English tutor within my family’s business, which I have done for many years, but have also taken over as administrator.  As well as this, since September I have become a volunteer for a fantastic local charity called Solan Connor Fawcett Cancer Trust who provides amazing support and services for cancer sufferers and their families. So, you could say I have been busy since graduating!

Today is only my third day here, but I already know I am going to enjoy it here!  My colleagues and everyone in the office are lovely and have really welcomed me in, which has helped me settle in and feel part of the team. There is a lot of information to process but Debra has been fantastic in showing me the ropes, so I’m sure I’ll get to grips with everything soon (hopefully!).

So, even though this new role is different to what I have undertaken previously, I am motivated and enthusiastic to learn and fulfil the role to the very best of my ability.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and excited for whatever 2019 might bring you.

Georgina
